5 ways to get your outside space ready for winter

by Sasha-Lee Kinnear On: outdoor living in winter

While cuddling up with a blanket indoors during winter is great, you can easily start to feel cooped up, and honestly that can become frustrating after a while. You need to get out and enjoy the fresh air!

Spending too much time inside can have a negative effect on your health, for instance, it can seriously affect your mood, make you feel anxious and restless among other things, it can also be the cause of a poor immune system (why do you think so many people are getting sick so often during the winter months?...). Get the point?

Taking time to go outside helps expose you to sunlight and fresh air, which is essential for all areas of your health, both physical and mental. So how can you change up your outdoor space to enjoy time outdoors even in cold weather?

Here are a few things you can do to get your outdoor space winter ready.

While having an indoor heater is great, moving it outside when entertaining is not really an option, not even to mention what a hassle this would be. Invest in a proper outdoor gas heater that effectively heats the entire space (not just the people around it), choose one that is easy to use and safe around children and excited guests.

Upgrade your existing lounge suite with a fully upholstered one that can be left outside come rain or shine. With the huge variety of outdoor lounge suites and sofas available you can incorporate any design into your space, whether you love the look of an L-shape or a 2 seater.

If ever you were looking for a way to add a bit of personality and colour to your outdoor space then look no further, outdoor rugs are ideal because they do just that, while adding warmth underfoot.

Scatter cushions are great for indoors and outdoors, they tend to make a space feel more inviting and add extra comfort to a sofa. You can now find scatter cushions that are covered with outdoor acrylic fabric, which means that they can be left outside come rain or shine, like these quilted outdoor cushions below.

Everyone knows the importance of lighting, especially in the winter months where it starts to get darker earlier. Create an enchanting atmosphere when entertaining outdoors with LED lights that can stay outdoors (even when it’s raining). For example, these Orb balls are great for outdoors and they are versatile too; use them in your garden, on the floor of your outdoor lounge and even on your table.
